Is Omarchy worth it? My experience with a ready-to-use Arch Linux setup

I installed Omarchy recently. It is a ready-to-use Arch Linux setup for people who would rather not configure everything from scratch, which is how I used to work.

So far, the experience has been very good. The system is lightweight, the tools work well together, and the whole environment feels integrated. In its current version, it has also worked well for my AI-related work.

Still, people who are new to Linux should approach it with some care. Omarchy uses Hyprland as its window manager, and the adjustment can be demanding for someone coming from Windows who is not very comfortable with the keyboard. Before replacing your main system, it is worth trying dual boot or a virtual machine. Even though it is ready to use, it is still Arch Linux.

For those who want to try it, the AI features integrated into the terminal can make configuration much easier. You can ask for guidance on tasks that previously meant looking up commands or editing files by hand.

Omarchy seems to be growing in popularity for a simple reason: convenience. Setting up Arch from scratch is enjoyable and teaches you how every part of the system works, but it takes time and requires ongoing maintenance. I learned a lot from using a more bare-bones Arch installation. Even so, Omarchy has been a very interesting experience.
